Arduino/Genuino MKR1000
Yet another fine piece of open source hardware for IoT.
A new Arduino board is available. It has SAMD21 Cortex-M0+ CPU which is said to provide integer performance on par with Raspi Pi Zero. Moreover, it provides an integrated Wifi, an integrated charge controller for LiPo batteries, and a crypto co-processor. See http://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoMKR1000. The board costs about 30 Euros.

Sounds great, also read about it but I would much rather have a much smaller processor and price. I think for most the processing power is overkill especially with a crypto co-processor. The problem I guess is that the processor is not that expensive so it wouldn’t get much cheaper with a slower one.
10-15€ would be a sweet-spot for me.

Yes, that’s not much. Basically the same as Arduino Mega 2560

Agree. For most applications a Wemos or NodeMCU may serve well at a fraction of the price.
For me the intersting point is the crypto hardware (other users porbably won’t use it) as it was always hard to get decent crypto on Arduino given the hardware limitations.
