pimatic-weather change API

I’d like to change the API behind the pimatic-weather plugin that now it is looking into msn to point to openweathermap instead. The reason behind this is that it gives you a much richer weather information than the former. If you want to try it out, I push it into pimatic-weather/openweather.

I didn’t publish it yet on npm due to some parameters that need to change onto the devices section. I’d like to avoid to break somebody else environment. What do you think?

@josecastroleon could be great, remember that few month ago msn changed its API and i am not sure that they will continue to offer service API.
I am using openweather since a long time on my computer and i am satisfied about it…

would it make sense to publish your change to openweathermap under another plugin name, maybe pimatic-weatherinfo or pimatic-weather2 or something like that?
then you will have the possibility to install your new implementation with openweathermap without breaking any existing configs. the users can switch their setups then step by step.

wow! yes indeed. lots of information!

just a question about the language setting. i tried to set it to “de” for deutsch / german.
the “clouds” should be “wolkig” now, but i’m not sure whether i chose the correct expression with “de” or if it’s not working yet?

It is using https://github.com/baslr/node-openweathermap and ‘de’ is a valid language for openweathermap api

i guess the openweather api is not fully translated.
could it be that the plugin takes over the wrong information from the api?
i don’t know what the “cloud” information in the red box is about, it changes its value but doesn’t really make any sense for me. but i guess the language relevant information are the blue boxes. this is the weather overview in clear words.

can you or anybody double check?

I am using main, that could be not translated, i will change into the description that is correctly translated

I’ve just changed it and publish it on npm (0.8.2), also I had some exception log messages about optional information in the response that I also fixed

i think there is something wrong with the forecast device, because the showed data is not corresponding with the data on openweathermap
And it would be very nice, if you could implement the icons in the GUI.

The icon will require a bit more time to implement it, i would need to prepare the interface…
About the forecast, i am retrieving the doing the following query http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/forecast?units=metric&q=Geneva,Switzerland&cnt=1
and taking the 8th element for getting the next day prediction (all predictions are 3h based 0,3,6…)

If you are talking about the low and high temperature, they only refer to that particular prediction. I can loop into the predictions for a day and then calculate the minimum and maximum temperature…

@josecastroleon yeah i saw this in the api now. I think they calculate the average values for a day on their website. If you could calculate them too it would be better. Thank you for your work.
