Arduino upload in Pimatic-homeduino

I would love to see a upload or update button for the Arduino which runs the Homeduino.Ino sketch.

I found a little upload script in the net

@sweetpi is it possible? The pimatic-homeduino can download a pre compiled hex file and upload this to the arduino. This would make the change to Homeduino extrem easy. And we got the possibility to change code on the arduino in case of a bug or a software expansion.

I have some ideas for this.

The first problem is, that there existing many different Arduinos.
With a little make script we can create for every arduino the necessary Hex file.
These files are stored on github or pimatic.org or npm.
The pimatic-homeduino plugin get the version number of the homeduino on the arduino during start up. After this it request the hex file and upload it to the arduino. The user must define the type of arduino in the config.

The filename should generic like this

homeduino_#{ArduinoTyp}_#{Version}.hex

homeduino_nano328_0.1.2.hex

Alternately the hex file would be compiled on the destination system. But this needs more stuff to do.

guess the most common device is the arduino nano 328 with 5V. this should be default then imho. (if possible - but i think having a recommended default would make some things easier)

Nice idea. I think that’s definitively needed. I think precompiled hex’s is the way to go.

The naming schema looks good. I think homeduino should report its version in addition in the READY message so it can be easily detected if an update is needed like:

READY 0.1.2

If it sends ready, version and board type Pimatic knows everything.

Ready 0.1.2 nano328

The problem is, you cant get the board from the arduino. This must be chosen from the user

But in the first update (homeduino install) you could add the arduino version, so when updating, Pimatic can choose the right hex file.
