really strange homeduino behaviour

Hi all, since 25th january i have a really strange behaviour.

This is my Setup:

RPI2
Arduino Mega 2560 clone with 18 Relais and 11 Doorcontact wired

and now the problem. After a random time sometimes 1 day, sometimes just 20 minutes the arduino led rx,tx are flickering very wild and the relais are also flickering. the behaviour looks very uncoorinated, the homeduino does not work at this time, i get no error (debug: On) in pimatic, the cpu goes from 16 to 30. after that i have to restart pimatic. the arduino has a quality power supply (12V)

i have changed nothing on my setup. all work fine before that for a half year.
i switched the usb serial cable to get sure this is not the problem, also flashed the homeduino new.

what i mean with flickering is the relais goes on/off really wild and just for a short time.

i hope someone can give a hint to fix this as fast as possible.

is it always the same 3 relais that are switching so wildly when this error occurs or does it differ?
guess you don’t have a mega as spare to change it?

It differs. There is no sample wich i can notice. I have no other mega, thats my next step but first i will ask here, maybe someone has the big tip.

Iam also having problems with my homeduino worked for long time but now i keep getting serial time out. I use the homeduino only for controling switches and read the temperature. If i restart pimatic the homeduino is working for an random time after that i get serial time out. Maybe this is related to your problem and i hope there is a solution for it i already change my power suply and cables but i got no luck.

Another think ive noticed every 3 seconds i get an ack1 11times for the 11 contact sensors. When the homeduino work fine. But when it blink wild i get realy fast an ack, without a 1. Maybe this is usefull.

@p4co86 : do you get status updates about the relais to pimatic while it flickers?
The flicker of the tx/rx leds + high cpu suggests high traffic on the serial port.

With so many actors, you should reduce the interval for the Homeduino sensors. Eventually this is an serial buffer overflow on the mega.

We should change the polling of digital read to an interrupt style event.

Before rhis the interval was 1000ms and all work fine for a half year. I habe reduce it now to 3000ms

Stupid idea : can you disconnect the Pi from the Homduino to see it it is for sure Pimatic controlling this behaviour ?

after disconnecting the homeduino the arduino is still on but the flickering is stop. ive testet all, it is pimatic

I geht definittly status updates. I have this behaviour now in another system for the first time. Im using a nano with 1 relay and a trsmitter/receiver. All work fine before for a year. I habe now idea what it is. But for now it is unusable for me.

could anyone give a hint where to search the problem? like i said, all work fine for over a half year and i have changed nothing.

after i look back and remeber i have made an update of homeduino from 0.8.65 to 0.8.66. since that, the strange beaviour was present. And to arduino was stable for 24 hours.

Now i have switched back to 0.8.65 i have no problems since 1 week. my setup is now like before the behaviour comes. maybe it is beacause of the update. (analogdimmer)

Did you set the rf repeats in your config? Or did you use the analogDimmer?

tomorrow i will post my config. no rf repets set, i have no rf installed. and i dont use a analog dimmer. but the pimatic hap is installed.

pimatic-hap inst the SIRI bridge or? I dont have any Apple devices so i have no cloue what is needed to use siri.

Im not using it. Ivjust oinstalled it for test. But all works eine with HAP. Before this behaviour. Its after update to 0.8.66

You can try to remove pimatic-hap and try a newer version of homeduino.
You both are the only persons with this strange behavior.

@Icesory I’m using homeduino 0.8.71 and pimatic-hap 0.5.6 and have no problems at all. I wouldn’t say that https://github.com/pimatic/homeduino/issues/23 is caused by pimatic-hap. At least i couldn’t find anything.
