In reference to the github issue pimatic/pimatic#434
I’d like to propose a feature to extend the range and reliability/stability for the RF communication.
Like described in the github issue there are different ways of achieving this.
2 general ways:
- Have multiple pimatic instances which all can create devices and propagate them over the network. (So you can switch device1 at pimatic1 from pimatic2 etc.)
- The idea is to have not one sender/receiver in your configuration but a p2p network of sender/receivers which all communicate (this is the pilight approach) but not multiple pimatic instances. So you’re free using arduino/raspberry pi etc. for this.
Me personally I think it’s overkill to use a full pimatic instance to just extend your range for RF communication.(but probably more future proofed?) In my use case I have multiple sensors/switches which don’t have strong sending units, so the signal is simply not strong enough to get to pimatic --> Need for change!
Bringing the pieces together I’d think about something like this:
This is just brain storming, so I’d like to see if somebody else is interested in this?
I really liked the setup with pimatic & pilight - but since pimatic-homeduino is just so much easier to use (and has better results) I’d like to realize this within pimatic.
