I had also problem with that and tried with a different e-mail addresses (Gmail did not work for me, check spam folder).
so far i am surprised by the device. the bulb is very bright and responsive.
Lucky you, as it it was damn slow for me. Each command is send to the cloud and the device picks it from there.

Thanks for the pointer. We already have https://www.npmjs.com/package/yeelight-wifi which works for me. You need to set enable the “developer” mode first (settings as part of yeelight app) before the device can be controlled locally.
