Community is about giving and taking so I’m happy to do my part.

Just installed it on my productive system remotely and seems to work like a charm also on the raspberry!

Just published latest version. Some of the commands were not working because previously only the press and no release event was sent to the hub

And another version. Just learned the hub only allows six simultanious connections so I introduced a “pool” of connections.

Will you extend it so that you also control harmony actions? Of course I can use pimatics rule system to control the devices but this would mean programming the actions twice (once on harmony for the original remote and also on pimatic)

Actions would not be a problem but I’m afraid I won’t have time the next weeks.

Have you experienced that it stops working after a few hours not sending a command? Everything looks fine but there doesn’t seem to be IR sent out. I will investigate it on the weekend. Maybe we need some keepalive.

tested it now for about 24 hours in a row on a raspi2. I have experienced no problems whatsoever. I’ll keep you informed if I run into problems.

Ok, I’m still investigating why it stops working for me after some time looks like there is no error returned from the API I’m using.

@Sarg666 what do you mean by “one function” can you describe this a bit more?

Now i can say more. With your plugin, for example i can send “OK” or any other command fo the firetv only one times. Then i cant send any other command. But i have also tested “HarmonyHubControl”, and there i can send one command and one other. But here i cant send the same command more the ones. For example: OK OK - the first OK goes to the FireTV the second not / OK DirectionUp OK - OK , DirectionUP and OK goes to the FireTV.

Ok i will try to reproduce your usecase as I also have a FireTV. I guess the thing here might be that FireTV is operated via Bluetooth.
Which Version are you using as I have added the release key event in a later version?

I also published a new version yesterday night to fix the problem that the hub only works the first minute after startup. It’s wired that not everybody experienced this as it seems to be a common problem with the hub. Maybe it depends on the firmware of the Hub.

The hub is closing the connection after one minute of inactivity. I first thought about some keepalive/heartbeat but I now implemented an auto reconnect on a disconnect of the underlying server as this is “nicer” and also might help with unstable network connections.

Here’s my device config:

I strongly suggest to configure your devices via the harmony app and then use the the discover function in devices to automatically discover them.

I don’t know any other way currently to find out which commands you have to send.
Once you know the commands this way you can edit the discovered devices and for example remove buttons you don’t use or add buttons from other discovered “areas” of your devices and combine them in one area.

Is it or will it also be possible for the Plugin to “Listen” the fired commands by the Hub? Then using it in rules like When command KEY_DOWN of Hub is triggered then... This would me spare the lirc Installation

Also it would be cool if it is possible to discover the “All off” Command.
Just installed the plugin and had no problems discovering and controlling my devices.

I’m about to implement voice control in my pimatic setup and now I’m at the point where I think on setting up “sceneries” e.g. evening TV with Kodi. I can of course rebuild my harmony actions with you plugin and its commands or you have a easy way to implement the harmony actions too?

@thex do you know if your plugin will also work with the new harmony companion? The Hub looks very similar…

It seems to use the same smartphone app which uses the same interface the plugin uses so I guess it should work.
Would be great if you can give feedback if it really works.
